Yes you did say all that :P

Thing is when i went to 2 different motorcycle shops(San Diego Cali) they both told me to take my JET out because jets have many different shapes , I am thinking umm I don't want to take my jet out until i have a replacement/85/88 .... Then it takes a few days . to come. I almost ride my scoot every day and i just calculated 83mpg.

PN# 99101-187-0850

with this part number you posted i will order it from the shop, i don't like buying things online for some reason, i guess that is why i have not got the vari with 9g rollers. If there was a store store that had it on the shelf then i would have gotten all mods long ago.

I just seen what you said , i am wondering if you are asking me ? My Elite is the SR50 so i bought is all stock going 36-37, i screwed up taking out my 2nd AIRbox tab for more air WITHout buying a bigger JET . So i have stock Vari , stock everything, and i had to plug my air box back up until i am not lazy to get my JET, .... so i was LUCKY to buy the Elite SR50 that is why my exhaust doesnt need the mods or anything to hit 36mph. Mid June i plan to go 45mph with vari and 85 jet / re-open air box. Only money i put into my scooter is $2.97 for 1 gallon of gas 87 octane.

wait. do you have the elite S or the elite SR? if its the S then remove the front pulley and on the back of it you will find a plate the is bolted to it. remove that plate and it will allow the pulley top work better. and with that part number 99101-187-0XX0 you can replace the XX with 85 and 88 and get both jets. im running 85 but some run 88 just depends on what your motor likes. buying from the net is no biggie. look up burnt_toast he has a great variator that i have and really like. the rollers you will just have to shop around for. try to find malossi or polini. 7.5 or 7.7 gram

nevermind i figured it out. I guess it was self explanatory. I took it for a little drive and it went 38-40 mph on gps. (note: that is with out the jets) Friday i get the jets (#85 and #88) and i will test to see what ones to go with. Any suggestions on what i should do about the lack of oil it will be getting?

Just tune it and tune it and Tune the CARB until you get the setting right. You should ride with a little screw driver going up and down some side street. because i didnt tune i was riding slow for 3-4 weeks until i went up and down my block 8 times long distance of 3 blocks . I kept stoping and tuning ... not hard to adjust the carb . ... For me at a Red light- Wehn its green by the time i get to the cross walk on the other side i am going 25mph, after that it pulls more and soon i am going 36... when i was tuning it felt crappy going 28 so i knew i had to stop and adjust the carb setting.

Greetings:

I must disagree with Jasonic. That little screwdriver might improve off-idle mixture and throttle uptake at the low-end, but it won't ever do a thing for your top speed. The "adjustment" for top-end power is the installation of the best-matching jet for your setup. Run it a while and then check that plug color. I'm betting it's dark.

If that's not the problem, the list is long. For high-mileage scooters, carbon build-up in the head, port, and pipe. The belt could be worn, or flat-spotted rollers. Intake vacuum leaks from improper assembly or seals going out. At some point the bore will wear and compression will drop.

Well if his scooter was working just fine and going fast and there was no problems with pistons or carbon build up before , then i think the easiest thing to do is tune the carb just right .

2004-05 my other elite had an after market vari and 88 jet , but if my carb was not tuned right I could LOOSE a full 10mph.

adjusting those 2 carb settings , does effect top end speed. if you are going 45mph or so , pull over and with your screw driver and totally change the card the other way and see if you can still get 45mph, no you wont.

On every scooter i ridden take off / low speed was always fast and strong, and adjusting the carb right always gave me faster top speed. 1mph to 15mph might be strong or a little weaker but it always came down to adjustments for me. I have been riding for years on and off , ported an intake, actually pulled a jug / engine completely apart , put it back together and it started first try. I might not be the best with scooters but if he said he was going fast, changed his Jet then went slow , then tuning of the carb i think would be the issue, not carbon build up or ring problem.

i wouldnt say high miles i just rolled 1200 miles.

i think an 82 jet is probably my best bet and i am running a stock variator.(removed ramp of coarse) so im thinking a new variator and some good quality rollers. just might do the trick.
