that looks sweet! from what i hear (somebody correct me if i'm wrong), the CT manifolds for the dio fit on the aero 80 blocks. so you can fit a bigger carb. maybe even try cutting up an old 80cc dirtbike expansion pipe to fit the block? that right there could be a very noticeable gain in power.

You are right the CT fits the Aero 80. I have had the manifold and gaskets for awhile and it should fit from the gaskets. But just to make sure, this morning I tried on a block and it fits perfectly.

Greetings:

This is exciting news for NH80 owners, isn't it? Honda sure doesn't waste many designs. Bear, you going for Old Reliable, or is this going to be 80cc/80MPH?

Hi all.. Bear , you seem to know the nh80 pretty well , I just need to pick your brain , if you dont mind. What would you suggest for a carb an oko or whatelse , I want to go the CT intake route and also..are all those vacuum lines really needed? Id like to keep it as simple and clean as possible. Anyone else chime in pleaze.
Thanks

I now have 2 Aero 80 scooters. I got the one and the wife rode it once and I was back to the Spree. So I acquired a second one. She wants to ride her's to work which means mainly a 45 mph road into town. So for safety sake, she will need 50 to 55 mph available. Which shouldn't be a major challenge. I have different reeds for it and am working on a carb change. A bigger carb is needed since the stock carb is smaller (16 mm) for the 80 cc that even the Spree carb (12) is for it's 50 cc. I also have a Ruckus variator for it. Maybe a bigger tire too.

For my ride the CT manifold plus a 21 to 24 mm carb and then this winter a CR80 piston and a port job. Bigger tires for sure but I think 60 to 65 mph will more than enough.

I'm an Aero 80 expert by no means, but I am knowledgeable about 2 strokes and going fast with them. There is info out there on hopping up the Aero 80. Rather than go into a lengthy explanation, go to this link and read up on what's been done by others.

http://www3.telus.net/MyScoot/aero80.html

That said I would, for a street machine with only minor mods and stock bore and stroke to go no bigger than a 24 and I'm thinking I will stay around 20 to 22 mm for my build. Big carbs are great for all out top speed but I want a streetable and ridable machine. I'm not looking for max mph (for one thing I already did that racing in 2 venues and I heal real slow anymore so getting hurt trying for a max mph has no appeal to me anymore and do that hurts reliability).

Greetings:

Bear, better think about a pipe if you plan to exceed 60, methinks.

The 80's 16mm carb gives 2.51 square mm of venturi area per cc of displacment. The Spree formula yields 2.26mm, so while the difference isn't as great as the raw dimensions suggest, the Aero 80 actually has more carb. Pie are squared/cylinder volume. (but I thought the PA carbs were 14mm? :? )

Oh, I already have a pipe (I'm told it is loud) and I also found that for the European version of the Aero, the Lead, there were several aftermarket pipes made.

Oh and the PA series is 14 mm, once again my memory fails me. Maybe that's why I write things down, then I just have to remember where it is written down at. :eyeroll:

The 80 has 60% more cc than the Spree so a 60% increase in the carb would be 3.62 so a 2.51 is still way to small. Beside the intake bore is 19 mm and the carbs throttle bore is less than 18 mm and the CR80 motocross engines use a 24 mm carb stock and the racers use a 28 mm carb.

I still which these Japanese carb manufactures used CFM ratings on their carbs, I would make it way easier to figure out what carb size would be best.

slightly off topic: does anyone know what size the sb50 carb is?
and why does more carb mean more topend? more fuel and air?
thanks for any insight
