Brake Light Problems

Post by XCScott »

The problem i have with my tail/brake light is that is shuts off when the brake is applied. It is on and i pull either of the brake levers, the light gets bright and then slowly fades until there is no light. If I keep holding the brake the light will stay off but if i let go of the brake lever the light will come back on. If the brake is applied long enough the light will take a couple of minutes to come back on once the brake is let go. I had a spare tail light that i tried to hook up and it did the same thing so there is nothing wrong with the tail light itself. Help please!!!

The tail light is getting it's ground thru the brake light. You are either missing a green wire going to the light assembly or you have a dirty light socket.

I have checked both ends of the wiring harness, all wires are hooked up. I have tried a different light assembly and it does the same thing so its not a dirty socket.

Nevermind... Bear, you mentioned ground, i checked the ground in the back and the ground was not hooked up right (I had two wires mixed up for some reason  ). Thank you very much!
