Hi-
Bought a spree and she was pretty rotten. Cleaned the carb twice, second time got the emulsifier out and clean. Cleaned airbox thoroughly removing pasty rotten air filter. Drained tank, installed in-line gas filter and new hoses. New gas. New plug. Filled 2 stroke oil res. Checked compression and got 100psi. Starts for about 3-5 seconds then dies. Throttle kills it instantly. No throttle and she runs and sputters and dies. This is killing me. No bystarter sleeve stuck, or anything looking wrong with bystarter..not sure if it's working either. Any ideas?

if you have only 100 psi then the rings are worn, put a teaspoon premix in it and see if the compression jumps up. sounds like you will be replaceing the rings to me.

Get it running before you determine that the compression is low. After sitting for a long time the compression can be lower until you run the engine for a while. 100 PSI wil start and run, no problem. You should always oil the cylinder before you crank a motor over that has sat for a long time.odinxxix wrote:if you have only 100 psi then the rings are worn, put a teaspoon premix in it and see if the compression jumps up. sounds like you will be replaceing the rings to me.
