Total, Sudden death syndrome 1999 Elite SA50P

Post by GJbean »

At about 7700 miles. Running fine in the morning, filled up the tank with prem. gas. Did not add oil to the gas. . . . and then out of nowhere.

I AM DEAD. OR CLOSE TO DEAD. ALL OF THE SUDDEN OUT OF NOWHERE LESS THAN 5mph.

Darn. :*: Local mechanic picked it up. He says, did you put oil in with the gas? I say no it just takes regular gas. He says, well your oil is completely dry. Let me get some oil for the thing but your engine might be seized up.

no way, no way. so steamed. thoughts? sympathy?? totally ticked off AND NO MOPED TO RIDE.

Does it go 5mph or is it dead?

If it is dead, use this opportunity to rebuild the top end with a big bore kit.

65cc would be a good upgrade. :imo:

Greetings:

Sorry Bean. You might also want to check why the cluster lamp didn't come on to alert you to the low oil situation. Mine lights with a half-inch left in the tank; handy!

I always check the oil when filling the tank. And always carry a small bottle of oil. Rebuild the top end you will be happy you did. No replacement for displacement!

Parting it out would take more time then rebuilding the top end.
