air box

ok now i got a elite 1987 and i dont have the air box so darat said put a sock on it and it would work what should i do to make it run right!!

i'm not totally sure, but i think it would be best to get an airfilter, get all the stuff, or do the little breather filter thing.
either way - it will be hard to tune with a sock - because some parts of the sock my be thicker than others, might let in more air - its like an unpredictable vaccum leak - it maybe tuned perfect one day, the next day the sock got warm, the fabric streched and now its out of tune again.
i say get a reliable filter. - then tune.
