just got a honda elite 50 1989 off craigslist...

Post by azndude3141 »

everything works extrmeley well. it idles insanely quiet and starts extremely easy with electric and kick start. however, everytime i turn, it makes a click everytime you turn past the halfway mark. it kinda get anoyying so i tryed removeing the 3 nuts on the front cover but the cover wont come off. is it suposed to make that clicking noise? also, how much oil should i put in it? to the brim or just wait until i see the oil senser light up? he didnt give me an owner's manual :(. thanks for your help.

Fill the oil container, the oil level sensor lights up when it senses no or low oil not when level is where it should be. Not sure about the clicking, sounds like something catching.

The throttle cable, speedo cable, and both brake cables run behind the front cover and move when handlbars are turned. That's what might be catching?

Yes. Use a good oil like Honda GN2 "injector" oil.

You need to remove more than the three nuts on the front of the cover. There are also screws that screw from that glovebox panel into the front plastic, look around the edges.

Greetings:

Fill to the little indicator below the cap. If you overfill it isn't a big deal, but spilled oil is a pain for a long time.
