The first indication of bad reeds is hard to start and poor idle with fuel being spit back into the air box.

From about 3/4 throttle on up you don't even need reeds.

Always a safe bet. Just make sure all the surfaces are clean and flat with no dings. Also make sure the bolt holes a clear of debris and the threads are intact. Oh and use a torque wrench to tighten the bolts.

Not off hand, but I, just like you need to use the service manual to find this information.

Greetings:

The 6mm bolts take 6 or 8 ft-lbs IIRC. The Generic section in the front of the Service Manuals have a list of torques for every bolt size unless specified otherwise in each manual section. I'll have a look if there is a spec in my old Aero manual.

Greetings:

Page 1-5 in the Torque values lists the "6m Screw" as taking 7 ft.-lbs. Use a torque wrench designed for acuracy with small fasteners. Some use the 1/8th drive and measure in Inch-Pounds. 7x12 = 72
