Yeah, that might be where it bites me in the a**.
Im only going to be using a 3.00-10 rear tire so that will decrease the risk of any wheel rubbing issues, but i might have to shave down the rear brake light assembly a little

My brain is just kinda bouncing off the walls with too many non-connected ideas to contain
So i sketched this up
Image
P1010774 by jpetrak, on Flickr

Its fuel tank that will fit on the rear rack off the Spree to add an additional 1.26 U.S Gal reserve to it
The dashed lines are just for easy volume calculations, nothing structural meant there
Maybe make it out of 1/8 inch or 3/16 in sheet metal.
From some other memebers i also gathered that i could just use a 3 way "T" valve to hook this up to the fuel line. When the stock tank gets low, just open the valve and use the reserve
And im thinkin i could use the spree oil level sensor to tell me when the reserve is low
If i could ever get the d*** sensor out of the oil tank without breaking the thing. Any tips?

Drill into the tank, then cut out the sensor so it will be easier to work with. Do the final trimming by hand.

I would use a urban express tank on the back. That would look cool and still be honda. :thumbwink:

http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/Honda-NU ... 500wt_1182

You could plum the two together to a Y or T fitting and then run a manual petcock after that.

Wheelman used his oil tank as an extra gas tank on an elite S. (can't find the link)

The gas gauge from the spree will be fine, because the urban tank is higher than the spree tank.

Ah, yeah thatd be cool too
Im kinda set on making my own tank now though, i think it'll turn out awesome.
I managed to get the oil sensor and went to fastenol and got the biggest bolt and nut that they had. So i can cut a hole in the top of the tank, jb weld the nut over the hole, and use cut down the 6inch bolt to use as a gas cap
Itll be just the size i want and itll be unique
I cant wait!
Also, i just got done cutting the mounts off both the frames. What a PITA!!!
For every 1 weld you can see, there are 5 you can't! So i ended up just getting to use the plasma cutter a bit more as well as a giant crowbar
Both the mounts are off, and im going in tomoro morning to get them welded up. Im going to reinforce the Elite mouhnt with some steel plate on the sides and bottom so that thing wont ever be coming off. And i gets me a centerstand outta the whole thing :ndance:

Greetings:

Don't forget to vent that cap/bolt somehow. Air has to be allowed in to supplant the fuel consumed.

Nice work on the Spree-CT adaptor. If you can reproduce the piece, many Spree carb woes will be solved.

A vent? Alright would a hole through the center of the bolt do?

Good ole hardened steel, 6 inches long, 1.5 inches wide piece of America

Good ole PITA right hur  It'll turn out nice though

EDIT: Yeah, unfortunately the way i made the Spree CT mount was by pouring molten aluminum into a sand casting. And the just by the geometry its almost impossible to mill. Too bad i cant make em in large quantities, but i dont think the school would take too kindly to me using their aluminum and selling it to people lolz
Got the original mount in for sale if someone wants it

Why do you insist on making thing harder than they need to be?

Why did you cut all that?

So i can just weld it to the Spree like that.
I cut the one off the spree too, so all i have to do now is butt the Elite mount up to the mounting point and weld it solid.
With a little reinforcement for good measure it'll be rock solid, you'll see

just use the s moto mount..

you will need to cut main mount. 99mm only on the left side only!!!! It will fit perfect into spree frame  use s front bolt/nut into spree frame, need to drill bigger holes.

you just wasting time on s sub frame

Alright well i guess i went the "hard way" :blah: lolz
But it turned out amazing!!
I set a goal to get this thing welded up today come * or high water, and managed to crank it out
I put the Elite mount up to the Spree frame, made sure the frame was level with the kick stand done, threw some tacs on it. Then welded it solid all around. But that wasn;t enough, i wanted to make sure that it wasnt going anywhere. So i threw on steel plates on the left, right, and bottom of the mount and welded those on as well. This thing aint goin nowhere!! :geekdance:

Bottom plate, got a touch too hot, but with all the weld already on there it doesnt matter

Was gonna weld it with mig, then we ran out of argon. Started welding it with a wire welder, then ran out of wire. So ended up having to stick weld 90% of it, but it doesnt look bad and is d*mn strong!
