spree gears.
I just read on a post by forum member hammer that in his 1986 spree he swapped '84 gears into it and got a 37 mph gps verified. Is this even feesible? and what years gears are the same ratio as the "84s.

Re: spree gears.
84 gears are of a lower ratio than other years of spree. If I had used gears from an 86 the scooter would likely run even faster. I have went over all of this before but here is the run down again.
I used new later model sb50 stock bore cylinder that I did some porting on. I also used sb50 reeds and carburetor. Used a 86 Spree muffler and pipe that I cooked the and opened up the discharge tube and cleaned up the upsteam end till it was smooth. I used a milled 84 Spree head which has a smaller combustion chamber to start with. I used the newer sb50/nq50 piston. I used an after market CDI and coil. Many will say the CDI and coil are a waste of money but I really felt like the throttle response was better with and the motor ran a little crisper with them and didn't lay down on the top end. The manifold area of the block where the reeds bolts on was opened up along with port windows that enter the crankcase. Also did some work to the airbox without drilling holes in it and worked with several jet sizes in the carburetor. It all runs on pump gas.
I used the shorter 84 gears because I didn't want to hurt the take off. I did however use 2.75X10 tires because I wanted a bigger tire patch and larger roll out to make it harder to dump in a pothole. My daughter presently rides the scooter every day the weather is nice in Fayetteville, Arkansas where she attends college on a track scholarship. (they got some hills)
Is 37mph feasible you ask? d*** straight. I wouldn't say if it wasn't so. Had the Garmen GPS strapped to the handle bars and on flat ground. BTW that was with the windshield installed!
