Need advice on 85 spree clutch slipping

Post by SuperSpree86 »

I cant figure out why this clutch keeps slipping.......To start with what I have done: The pads were replaced last summer with an aftermarket type so they have maybe 100miles on them by now. These new ones I would think should be way better than the stock cause they are about an inch longer. After getting the bike from storage, within a mile or so from take off the clutch slipps very bad. I know it is the clutch cause the Bell is super hot and the Belt is hardly even warm. I replaced the 3 rubber stoppers under the pad assembly cause of flat spots and made totally sure i cleaned super well. Again the clutch is slipping. Everything is clean inside the clutch case....No belt dust or greese. This is driving me Crazy.....My last thought is maybe the aftermarket pads are made of a crappy quality compound???? Anyone else have this prob????

Belt hot = belt slipping.

New clutch shoes but are the the right size. FYI longer shoes do not necessarily mean more contact area against the bell.
