i dont know how long this has been an issue, but i my head light/gauge light will not illuminate. turns and turn indicator work, oil light works, but not highbeam indicator.
only electrical quirks for the bike: disconnected horn, aftermarket LED integrated tail/brake/turns. the turns don't blink/chirp since the switch to the LED unit also, the tail light stays on when bike is off but ignition is in run position (normal?).
all wires are connected, etc but my level of understanding of electronics is just around green is ground.
any ideas?

Re: spree electrical problem: headlight and gauge
Those lights only work when the engine is running. They are run by AC power from the alternator.

Re: spree electrical problem: headlight and gauge
correct. when the bike is running the headlight and cluster light do not illuminate, but everything else listed above does. and when the bike is off but ignition is in run position, tail and brake illuminate.

Re: spree electrical problem: headlight and gauge
Look at the electrical schematic in the Service manual, it is easy to trouble shoot and determine where the problem is.

Re: spree electrical problem: headlight and gauge
The service manual is a good place. It will have expanded diagram similar to below (the diagram below is not a Spree, but wire colors are correct, and meter lamp connection is similar)
It won't really matter where you start - just mind that the expected voltage in the headlight circuit is AC.
Since you report 'no headlight/gauge lamps & high beam', I'd start by measuring AC volts with engine running at the Yellow stator output wire and Ground. Voltage below 10v is ok if its idling, but should hit 12vac or more when rev'ed.
