Heat insulator one last thing.

Heat insulator one last thing.
Does the heat insulator go on the carb rubber ring to rubber ring; or does it go on, rubber ring to plastic/rubber ring to metal?

Re: Heat insulator one last thing.
I guess a better way to ask that might be, does the rubber ring set into the heat insulator face out or in from the carborater?

the o-ring on the insulator faces the intake and the o-ring on the carb faces the insulator

Re: Heat insulator one last thing.
Thank you for responding but ummm... which is the intake?
I would think that that would be the part still affixed to the body but I could be wrong... ummm if I were to hold the carb in my hand, and then place the insulator upon it would the rubber ring face me or would I be unable to see it because it would be faceing the carb?(and there for touching its rubber ring)?

the intake is the part the you would bolt the carb to. the o-ring on the insulator will face the intake, then the o-ring that is on the carb will face the intake.

Re: Heat insulator one last thing.
Greetings:
There are 4 ways to position the heat insulator. 3 of them will cause problems.
One way to look at it is "dog-ears" Down, and each mating surface needs One O-Ring.
Go easy on the Wheaties when you tighten those 8mm hex heads. It's a 6mm steel bolt in the carb's flaky Alu threads, and not much of them. Just be sure to compress the O-Rings, but not much more. Chrck the Factory Manual, but it's not more than 6 foot-pounds, maybe less.
An error here can cost you a top end.
Good luck!
