gonna c4 my spree

Post by pod4444 »

ok im ready to stick some c4 in this spree and blow it to the moon lol.got my carb clean and now it runs good except it wont idle very good and wont run with the air box lid on,so its running way to rich i would think.so i leaned out the throttle needle tried leaning out the fuel mixture jet no help.when u put the air box top on and hit the gas it just barley goes.also this thing used a whole tank of gas in about an hour of riding!!!!and its not leaking anywhere

What size is the main jet? Any chance a larger one was swapped in (it should be a #68)?

Looking further down the list of posts I saw this:

You probably used too large of a bit and thats why your running rich at idle.

If thats the case you don't have many options. One forum member has had luck leaning out a modded idle jet by pinching the tube twice with a 90* angle between the pinches.

His post here:

If you have a parts carb around you can swap the idle jets between them, its a little tricky but not hard if you take your time and are careful.

Or you can replace the entire carb and keep your current one for parts (what I did when I first started working on these a few years back and made the same mistake).

Awesome. You drilled out your idle jet? If so, that carb's now a paperweight.

No wonder it's running rich. Time to buy another carb.

Hey... at least now you can save the c4 for something else.
