84-85 Petcocks-with or w/out Fuel Strainer? (new one needed)

Post by wtdash »

Looking online new OEM look like this:

The 2 non-functional ones I have look like this - no fuel strainer or other items sticking out of it:

Mine has the fuel strainer IN THE TANK attached to the where the petcock connects.

Am I OK to just get the new one and it'll fit?

Thanks

It is the same fuel strainer, just because it stuck in the tank does not mean it isn't the one with the petcock.

Your old one broke off in there. When you buy a new petcock it will come with a new strainer. Get a pair of needle nose and extract the old strainer.

It didn't break, they are a tight fit to both the petcock and then into the tank. The seems so always win when it comes to disassembly.

Good point. Only use sentences 2 and 3 of my response.
