Proud Spree Owner

Post by Chazzle »

Hello everyone! I have been visiting this forum for several weeks since seeing a neighbor in my apartment complex zipping around on his white Iowa Spree. After a month of scouring the classifieds and a 40 minute drive later... got one of these for my own! Its a 86 that needs (as far as I can tell) a new front brake cable(owner gave me one), lock under seat reattached ( I have key),needs new rear brake pads, and new tires. It has almost 5k miles on it but starts up after a little coaxing, but idles like a champ. What other things should I look at/clean/replace? Any help would be appreciated. ( I took it for a short test drive and it goes halfway between 25 and 30 mph on a level street.)

Greetings:

Nice score, and welcome, Chazzle.

Consider fixing those brakes pronto. Rear pads are cheap and easy to install.
Shopping List:

Air filter element
Spark Plug
3 Leftover ounces of good 10W-30 Motor Awl.
A quart of Honda GN-2
Maybe a can of NAPA or other brand carb Dunk.

Check the date stamp on the tires, and consider new ones if they read xx86. 25 year-old rubber can act weird when you need it not to. Read the Service Manual in that Forum section.

Ok, I will visit the local honda powersports store and get that stuff ordered.

Meanwhile, Im going over to the technical forums and read up on how to service it.

Thanks again,

Chazzle
