hi guys I've got a 87 spree. The PO had put a different style air filter on it... like a big foam cylinder. anyways the opening on the filter was like an inch and a half... whereas the intake is much smaller... more 3/4. he had clamped it down so the rubber on the filter had been cut and the filter actually fell off when I took the plastic off. so first off what should I do to replace that? btw the stock airbox has been messed with leaving very little ability to return to stock. so I ( and do flame me for this guys) have been running without the airfilter for a few days but since then I've encounterd a fuel leak which robs me of at least a quarter tank a night. okay I'm sure I can figure out how to fix a fuel leak but yeah... okay now finally.
I ride my scooter to work it's about 8 or 10 blocks to work ( i know why ride instead of just walk?) anyways I warm my scoot up for about a cigarettes time and ride off. at the stop light that is halfway to work as I'm decelerating to stop at the light it feels kinda like the bike jumps a little bit and it makes a 2 rapid little knock noises... what could this be?

Hello: won't give you any grief for not running with an air filter, but your bike might be telling by giving you those two little knocks at the stop light. It really wants it's air filter back so it can keep on taking you to work. It's running lean and will break shortly.. good luck

thank you sir. any recommendations for replacement airfilters?
Re: A few issues kocking air filter and gas leak.
assuming there are no engine mods I would think the stock airbox and filter would be the best choice. There are other people on this forum with way more knowledge about the spree's then I have, there may be alternatives I'm not aware of due to lack of personal spree knowledge.

by chance is the air filter that was on it a uni filter or a look alike? if so the spree will need to be upjeted for it run properly.if it wasnt upjeted it is most certainly running lean and will seize up! place a wtb in it proper section somebody on here will have a stock air box for ya.
