Tips for restorers of 1983 (83) - 1984 (84) Aero 50 NB50
It was suggested that Bear digitize himself so that the recent group of early model Aero 50 restorers would have a compendium of information on these unique (quirky) machines. I don't know if this is the best place for this post, moderator if you want to move this somewhere else please do so. Otherwise, if you have any tips or information salient to these models, such as what parts from other models fit (or don't fit), where to get parts, upgrades or modifications that work please post them here. I will be adding information from my model build post and others.

The later model caburetors have the bystarter on the inside next to the scooter. Supposedly, these will not fit. This is questionable. Aftermarket carburetors have been successfully modified to fit the 83-84 NB50. The aftermarkets use nuts to attach the carb to cycle rather that having the carb threaded, so you will need two bolts about 1/4" longer than the originals. Also, the cable sheath to the carb will need shortened by about 3/8". Pull down the metal protector, cut-off 3/8" of the sheath, and replace the metal protector. Photos of this procedure have been provided in the thread need 83 Aero bystarter --http://www.hondaspree.net/phpBB3/viewto ... 5&start=15 courtesy of richdavison34.

The cylinder gasket for the NB50 is extinct. Yamaha has one that will work. The Yamaha 3PT-11351-00 cylinder gasket is a near perfrect match. The only modification needed is to cut the outside of the bolt holes. It looks like it was used on the PW50, MJ50 and the QT50.

Wheels:
It appears that wheels for all years of the Aero are the same! See the following post http://www.hondaspree.net/phpBB3/viewto ... =1&t=12844. Unfortunately, they don't appear to cross with other models. The Tire size, drum diameter and rim width are unique for both wheels.

well I am a total noob with these scooters, but do have an 83' and have learned a couple things. Total credit for the Honda models goes to Bear. Finding this post I thought it would be good to put here.
Charge regulator - 1983 Aero 50
-1984 Aero 125,
-1983 - '84 Aero 80,
-1984 Gyro
-1982 - '83 Urban Express Deluxe
These other models have the same regulator and are cross compatible. thanks Bear!
Also, from this Ebay listing for a new regulator
http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/Honda-NB ... vi-content
I emailed wincycles directly about compatibility with the 1983 and they said it would work. So I assume that's a new option.
Also, I suppose for tires. I know this is a simple thing, but I didn't know about it.
The aero 1.5 x 10 rims will fit any tires from 2.00 - 3.00.
Finally for rear brake pads all these models share the same brake pad number;
NB50 1986-87, NB50M 1983-85, NH80MD 1983-84, SA50 1988-1990, SE50 1987, SE50P 1987, NA50 1981, NX50M 1981-82
Well that's about all the cross info I've learned so far, hope this helps
Thanks, Bill

That voltage regulator/rectifier actually fit a total of 57 scooters, mimibikes and motorcycles.BillMckraken wrote:well I am a total noob with these scooters, but do have an 83' and have learned a couple things.
