Half throttle faster than WOT?

Post by Trafficjamz »

On my 125cc stroker setup

1/8th mile run @ 1/2 throttle = best time of the night 10.9sec

1/8th mile run @ Full throttle = avg time of 11.15 sec

Kyrptonite has also reported fastest time with only 1/2 throtte.

Why is this?
new best 1/8th mile time 9.647 seconds @67.155 mph 310lbs total weight

Greetings:

That suggests it's too lean. Too much carb for the setup is also possible.
What RPM at WOT?

BINGO!

You would be better off with a CV carb this big.

The highest RPM @ Wide open is 10300 with 9.1 gears.

I suspect that my current pipe make little to no power after 9500.

Holding it at half throttle kinda put me in the "sweet spot" for longer. Max revs @ Half throttle was 9800rpm

A CV carb has a normal throttle valve, but the slide is controlled by the a vacuum diaphragm. This makes the engine only see as much the carb as it can handle. CV carbs are used on Quads and 4 stroke scooters.

Oh Yes I have lots of those.... most are from 50cc gy6 china copies.

Should I get one for the 150cc gy6 :?:

They make very big CV carbs, Harley Davidson runs a pair of 40 mm CV carbs. My 250 4 stroke quad has a 32mm CV carb while my 400 (actually 376 cc) 4 stroke has 34 mm CV carb. You can't make the motor stumble by crashing the throttle wide open.

I have no clue how big the carb is for the 150cc gy6? But go at least as big as you have now.
