Hey guys, my first post here. I have a 1987 Elite 50 S or SE50 with AF05E stamp on case and 4 bolt reed block. I am having a difficult time making sure I am ordering parts for the right engine. I look up SE50 stuff and the reed blocks are two bolt style. Pulled it apart and there is a GR1 stamp on cylinder head, thinking of upgrading to 44mm kit if I can locate one. Any info on this machine would be appreciated, plan on making a stand up scooter out of this project as the seat and plastisc are toast hench the user name.
Thanks.

Re: Elite Ped project
aero 50 or honda vision parts will be the same. why not redo the seat and plastic weld the plastics if its cracked? you do know that if you make it into a standup scooter, you will not be able to ride that on public streets even though the bike is titled for road use.
Nothing like getting stroked!

Re: Elite Ped project
Thanks for the info. I paid only $60 for the scoot, it was missing most of the plastic, the seat had become a birds nest and the last time it saw the street was 1995 in another state so were looking at about $200 lost title, inspection, relicense No way! Not too concerned with making it legal just want to get running good first. There is a dude on the Goped forums who turned a Yamaha Jog into a sweet stand up scooter Jog-ped on Youtube. Here is a link to his vid to get an idea of what I am planning plus a link to the Trail board I make on bottom if you want to see something different.

Re: Elite S project
After doing the math I decided to keep this scooter, it's not as bad a basket case as I thought after cleaning it up. I got a spare engine for $75 that runs good enough to get it past State inspection. Going to rebuild the stock motor later on but like the stripped down look so thinking of keeping it as bare bones as possible kind of like a moped or Ruckus. Maybe an aluminum deck or just pegs up front and redo the tanks with moped type seat, not sure yet but it will be spared from the wrath of the cutting torch.

Greetings:
Welcome. I like the Mad Max look too, but you won't pass most State inspections without HI-Lo beam headlamp, turn signals and a horn.
I've never seen a 44mm bore kit for the SE/05, but there are still a couple of choices for 47mm. The displacement gain is 65cc or 30%. It is worthwhile. It's not clear to me why anyone would go halfway anyhow.
DayWOT on eBay sells for Vision/Aero SE/50 engines. It's around @200 and is a very good Polini iron cylinder. Malossi also made 47s, but I can't advise where to get one. VT Cycles sells a Tai 46mm (63cc) kit with which I have no experience. Nobody has posted results from that one that I have read these past 3 years. It's about half the price from DayWOT, but sometimes you get what you pay for.
However once you start down the Hi-Po Highway, it can become a slippery slope. For sure you have to address adequate oiling for the bigger displacement. The PA carbs can't easily be modified for Pilot Circuit, so heat spikes are a danger off-throttle. With the big-bore and a pipe, the 14mm PA is a limiting factor for top end. Swapping carbs with the stock manifold is limited to the Amal/Arreche-for-Honda, but you have to go to Europe to find them. The Aftermarket manifold choices require fabrication of an adaptor plate to cover the wider SE/05 case port.
Pipes have become scarce, but LeoVince #4447 is the one you should try to find if you want one. The only bit of good news is that the variators, clutches and rear pulleys from the later SA/16 blocks all swap freely with your SE. Just retain the front pulley boss you have.
With all this, your "Bargain" scooter starts to run into some real money, so proceed with caution. Sometimes stock is enough. YMMV.
