Scooter starts but shuts down after 5 sec.

My friend gave me a 86 honda spree. It will start but only runs about 5 seconds and shuts down. I can keep it running by spraying gas in the carb. as long as I keep spraying it keeps running. I cleaned the carb twice, the check valve is working. could it be a vacuum problem?

wish the gas you spary in was premix gas with oil.
had you check the air filter?
you need the air box attach and the air filter.

start with a compression test. if that's good then do a good carb cleaning.

Clean the carb and then clean it again and if that doesn't work, clean the carb again. Directions in Wikispreedia Tech Section.

Check your idle circuit. It's clogged. Is this the same carb that's in my 89 Elite?
