1984 Honda nq50 Throttle

Post by jsgoodie »

I had this scooter running great. usually starts first couple kicks. It has been 2 months at the most since I drove it last and I went to start it yesterday and it would not go after some looking I got it going and it seems like the throttle cable is screwed up. When I start it it is just going crazy high revs The throttle cable seems to be screwed stuck. (My wife and myself were away on holidays and our 16 year old was home alone L.O.L. NOT SURE if he went for a joy ride we hid the spare keys to the car but forgot about the scooter. There is no other visible damage ) However the last time I drove it it was running great. Has anyone had their throttle cable screw up in 2 months of sitting I can pull on the cord here and there and it seems to eventually let go but as soon as i touch the throttle it goes right up again wide open.. Any suggestions would be great???

Don't condemn the kid yet. Cables go dry and can become sticky. I suggest removing the end on the carburetor and working it back and forth. Watch the action, use lubrication and if you cannot make it work properly replace.
