--just a thought why dont you take the motor you took of the other spree for the swap and put it on the 87 :D hahha if you sold some pieces just take them off the 87 motor lol
well that motor already went on another spree that wasn't running and parts off of that motor got parted out. guess i can just put this other dio on this spree. but i don't really want to spend the money to get the rest of the parts required to finish it off.

lol dont know what o tell you then, you will just have to keep tinkering with it till you figure it out. if it is flooding try messing with the needle, like i said switch to a needle from another spree if it still runs hte same move the clip up to the top and try that, if it is flooding lean it out lol

carbon build up? theoretically carbon build up in different spots under the rings caused them to not push in all the way. just an idea or dirt pulled in from a bad or missing airfilter at some point

could all the scaring be my problem? it had good compression, i guess because the rings were still good?

you think the cylinder could be honed? you have other pistons laying around dont you. I would think if hte rings were good a few scuffs on the piston wouldnt keep it from running. I know all the high and mightys say everything has to be new and perfect but i still say you can take fine grit sandpaper and clean a cylinders walls up and I use a bench grinder with a wire brush to clean carbon off of pistons :P

well the cylinder has some deep scratches all around the bottom half of it. i don't think i could just scuff those out because they are pretty deep. and the piston has scratches all the way around it also.
