Re: Gyro - general thread
...I am going to suggest that the compression could be down a little....also the presence of carbon in the cylinder, ports, muffler will decrease power....probably not clutches, but you must determine that by the rpm's the engine is making....does it bogg the motor , or just slow down and continue to rev high?....hope you are healing..........

I sold my Gyro to Mouse, it had the same symtoms, he put a new carb on it and it runs great now. Probably needs the carb cleaned again.gyromaniac wrote:thanks for the concern. what happens is i take off pretty good and when it goes to second it just boggs way down

...with all the possible spares you and your uncle have, I would start swapping parts for known "good" parts until the thing acted right.....

Re: Gyro - general thread
i got my gyro issues sorted out for the moment. lets see how long it will last. what was happening was not the carburetor but instead the screw mounts. the the piston was on its down stroke it was fine but on its upstroke it would blow the carburetor away from the mounts about a millimeter. thus causing to much air intake. and also my spark plug was on its last leg. we are looking into getting a new coil to.

.....As tires go, the Kenda 15X6.00X6 that I have been running are good new but go away after 2-3 outings and are completely gone after 4-5....a bit salty @ $30 a pop....finding a rib-tread tire with thick rubber on the contact surface has been unsuccessful so far....if something looks good online, there's always shipping that makes it all too expensive...so if I buy locally, i'm limited to what I can find....no way will knobby tread work....slicker the better.....here's what todays' final laps produced....weeeeeeeeeeeee.........

Re: Gyro - general thread
I know of no one who can wear out Gyro tires and have more fun doing it than you. Do OEM Gyro tires hold up any longer?
I've looked a Carlisle tires like this, but never bought any.

Re: Gyro - general thread
First time out with gyro on track was on OEM tires...I was green and tires were old but had plenty of tread....no grip with OEM's...none...now that I've been on the wider, softer tires, anything less would be counter-productive...the link you shared was beneficial, seeing some brands and styles not previously found....OUT OF STOCK on the super-cheapo's...interesting model by Deetone...6-ply was bit of a shock but might be an advantage over the 2-ply I've been running....One more pair this year will get me through ,so I'll probably be buying the same tire @ Northern Tool....I wouldn't mind the cost if the tires lasted longer........

....didn't make the MiniMotard today..
..failed to pick up tires..
..woke up this morning thinking it was Sunday....then by the time I realized the guys are riding today, I was caught with my pants down..
...Oh well,..good reason to top off the Aero and hit the Natchez Trace @ 2pm with my scooter homies, The Familia...
....fall colors are starting to turn and the Trace is rather boring during high summer....any luck and Mike (from American Pickers) will be hangin' around Pucketts Grocery in Leipers Fork, Tn.....I missed him last time through 'cause I was rounding up stragglers on mopeds....those things are constantly needing love and screwdriver sex...
...Should I survive the day, it's always easy to find some PseudoMoto members drinking beer and inhaling noxious fumes...
...and dont forget the season is just beginning for haunting and trick-or-treating with my first and funnest gang, the dead peds...
....So, get your * locked down to the saddle and find some virgin pavement (since true virgins are extinct)....Do the Ton!!!!.....

Re: Gyro - general thread
As a serious question here, has anyone here ever thought about putting neon or underbody lights on their gyro?
