Its not hard to get a new igntion set complete with both keys for a stolen bike. A better question is how do you have a bike with no vin plate? You really shouldn't buy stolen bikes, it just further promotes bike theft. Do you even have it registered or have papers for it?

No, your off-topic scooter discussion is meant to be right here, in off-topic land. And lucky you, it is being discussed.

For the HI guys: in MI 50cc scooters aren't titled like cars, they're just registered using the VIN plate, so there's no paperwork to transfer at sale other than a BS bill of sale. The state just checks to see if the VIN shows up as stolen.

As for the Tank, any chance it never came with a VIN? If the plate fell off while riding, then it's an even bigger POS than I thought, as it's supposed to be permanently attached.

Can you trace ownership back to the original purchaser? B/c I think it's stolen too.

You need to either run down a new piston or part it out; that engine restore ain't gonna do it.
