Re: 89 Elite R - my first build
So the intake is just a hair too small to cover the hole on the block where the stock reeds went. the bolt holes line up fine, but behind the intake, between it and the jug there is a 1mm gap opening. The adapter plate that comes with it does not cover it either.
Now I had one of those things, that come in your head that weren't there before......an IDEA!
I know the plastic piece that holds the reeds fits in there nice and snug and covers that space. Im thinking take the reeds out, and make it flat, remove the center piece and i have my bootlegged adapter piece that the CT intake and perch itself upon.
i did quick mock up and all the gaps are covered. and i have 2 gaskets from the adapter plate as well

here it is

and here is the gap it needs to compensate for

Be sure to have enough bolt thread that the block wont strip when you hit a bump. A lot of weight hanging out there and that is a thick adaptor.

Re: 89 Elite R - my first build
Temporary wont hurt as long as you don't get it in the block. I don't have a Taz kit so I've never seen his bolts. He didn't plan on people using an additional reed block so I assumed it could be an issue. On second thought, how much of a difference is there between his adaptor plate and the reed block adaptor plate?89eliteR wrote:should i use thread sealer as well?
