Factory 1986 spree windshield

Post by brobc »

Was able to get a windshield for my 1986 spree. It has the mounting bracket with it. I can't find anywhere in the manuals or service docs that show how it is mounted. Does anyone have a factory windshield on theirs, and have any input as to how it goes on... pics would help, too. Trying to restore this old scooter for the kids.
Thanks much for your input. Really like the forum... what a great source of help.
Thanks, Brobc

Thanks Mystic. I can't tell from the photo's where the bracket attaches to. Does the round part with the slot go around the handlebar? I can't tell how it ties in to the mirrors.
Any explanation would be helpful. I guess I'm just not seein' it.
Thanks.

you have to put the brackets on first then put the windshield on the brackets once they are mounted. the tabs are held down by the mirrors. take some pics of the tabs and mirror that way i know they are the same

I'm out of town on business, will take pictures of the brackets and post over the weekend. I think they look different than those in you pics that are posted. Thanks for the feedback.

Ok Mystic, I'm back and was able to take a picture of the bracket on the windshield... does this look like yours?
If the image doesn't appear than uploading isn't as easy as I thought!

gotcha. loosen the handlebar controls and slide them toward the end to open up enough space to put those clamps around the handle bars then tighten. willl be easier to take them off the shield then put the shield on once you have the brackets installed

Got the windshield installed... was able to get all new hardware at Fastenal for $4. Used Novus plastic polish from the Harley dealership to buff out scratches. Stuff works great!
Thanks for the help and advice.

a small bit of advice, you might want to brush some clear acrylic on the metal parts of the shield if exposed to high humidity or rain it will develop rust spots easily :D

Sparkling clear and shiny chrome....dont get any better. Novus....mental note. I dont go in Harley shops. Too much grunting and scratching of privates....and they laugh. Well, you know what the old saying is, "He who laughs last..."........... :bowrofl: :bowrofl: :bowrofl: :bowrofl: :bowrofl: :bowrofl: :bowrofl: :bowrofl: :bowrofl:

I think the back basket is enough for this spree. I would be afraid the front one would make the bike unstable if I put any weight in it while riding.
What is this about a floor mat? I didn't know there was one Honda sold. Has to be rare, never seen one on flea-bay. I suppose you could use a piece of some type of rubber or carpet cut to size. What has other Spree owners done?

I agree, this basket looks great..... :thumbwink: ..... Another one on front and it starts looking like a hover-round mobility scooter..... 8)
OEM factory accessory floormats were offered by Honda, yes.... :ndance:
