Post by MrWest »

So I picked up this 1986 Honda Aero from my neighbor for free!. It wasnt running and the kick start wouldnt even budge. So i got it running and it starts on the first kick. Runs kinda ruff but its a start.

Finding parts depends on what you are looking for. I usually start with my parts bin. If that fails, i use the wtb board here on the forum or the honda dealer.

Member martynkim was parting out an aero 50. I would check with him. Fronts are harder to find.

I got a little done on it today. Cleaned up the Gas tank and oil Tank Took the old oil out of it and put new oil in. Changed the gear oil that stuff was black!! for I do not kno how old it was And finally got to adjusting the carburetor so it wouldn't bog out.. actually got this thing up to 40 with no problems. I rode my other scooter its a GY6 150cc next to it while my friend rode this one and it said 40 on my scooter. so its still has some life in it

and smasher04 I really like yours its siiik!

CB900F ill be sure to do that ive been acctually looking for one. And yea it did look like s*&^ when I first got it lol

Still have a lil way to go till its finished.

Yea i really wanna do a big bore kit on it change the muffler but thats like a wayy future project im just ganna clean this one up for right now and get it pretty lol

I just need to get a new seat and find some back blinkers and finish the last peice of plastic (which is in like 5 pieces from the previous owner) and im ready to go!

Took me forever but i found some high heat paint to paint the muffler with so it wasnt alll rustyy

The only thing ive done to it was buy a aftermarket air filter I wanna upjet but idk why im scared to do it And i want to upjet my other scooter as well.
I guess I just need to go for it lol And ima do the variator in a few months when it starts to really warm up.

Slapped a sticker on it and finally put on the new air filter, But now its not running without the stock filter does this mean i need to adjust the Carb? Or am i goin to have to put the old filter back on?

What size is the main jet? you should probably get a larger main or put the airbox back on there

Nice, that reminds me of my Honda Pal with that colour scheme, good thing your taking pictures, I didnt of mine.
similar story too got it for free off my brother, rips in seat, gravel rash through every panel, big 2 pieces of plastic broken off and missing, all the mounts busted, not running, really jammy kick starter, had a pit bike muffler LOL, the head light fairing broken into 3 pieces, nothing a little fibre glass couldnt fix, garr Im rambling - keep up the good work, if it wasnt for that first free scooter I wouldnt have gotten into scooter rebuilds. and yes up the carb jet if you have not already, dont ride it like that or she will have a melt down, or put the old air box on.
