My New to me 1994 Elite SR

This thing was a fantastic find, thanks to majourlittle. Only had 639 miles when he handed it over to me. Didn't run at first but finally got it going but still needs carb cleaned. It has a couple cosmetically bad things but nothing that can't be fixed pretty easily. Took me about 8 hours round trip to get it though. Got it for $300 but that quickly nearly doubled when I got a ticket for 24 over (thanks to the guy in front of me; my trucks speedo doesn't work so I just go with the flow of traffic and he screwed me. Lol) which was 239.00. He almost carted me off to jail since I wasn't a state resident. But for some reason he broke protocol thank goodness. Anyway. Here are some pics.

I plan on keeping everything stock other than a variator and maybe a couple other things, for a while and just get it running in peak performance. So yes, the graphics are staying.

Questions, this is the SR, the S is restricted (oil pump, exhaust, intake, jets, etc.) and the SR is not, right?

What's the best approach at repairing a small crack underneath left front turn signal?

Thanks! I just got it back home tonight. I have not done much work on it other than getting it running.

Still need to do some heavy cleaning and tuning then I will take it out for a test run to see what it tops out at (gps verified of course), then I will begin looking for a variator if I still have a little cash flow after I pay my hefty ticket mentioned in the OP.

It was an out of state ticket, so i hope that if I pay it on time, It wont show up on my insurance.

One more question for the time being; is it normal for my throttle to spin all the way around without cease or should it have a designated amount of play and then stop turning after WOT?

Greetings:

Unless you have a broken cable, the grip is loose on the plastic sleeve. Fix that soon- Grip Glue from motorcycle shops or even spray paint will work. Otherwise having it pull off riding round a curve can be embarassing. And messy.

Is it the plastic the headlight mounts in? If so, get a new one for $43.

Wheelman, you were right on the money. Sprayed a little adhesive in there and fixed it nicely.

Haha, sounds good. Not much progress will be made the next few days since its so cold and I have to work. But next week I plan to take off the carb and get it all cleaned out and try to scrub down the rest of the innards and get everything up to par then focus on the exterior and get minor cracks fixed and scratches repainted. I cant wait for a nice day to get out and ride.

You mentioned you had a 94? What's it's/your story?

It was my first "dio". I ended up building it up and hit a couple tenths under 70 mph...i think it was 69.8? I painted it flat black and looking back i should have kept the SR graphics. i thought i was getting out of scooters and sold it to a member of these forums. The following spring i got the bug again and got another, not a 94 SR but a 95 S. That's getting built this winter.

Here are a few pics of it during the build, the wifes 2000 is the other SR.........maybe i should buy all new 94 SR plastics

That was my first dio build and i had a cast iron Malossi that was ported.

The contesta was on my 95 over last summer...same ride that's getting more power this winter. The contesta was run with the stock muffler, carb, airbox, etc.
