as soon as I get my contesta kit installed and tuned to 60mph I am going to be the one laughing as people's eyeballs bug out when they see my tiny spree throw gravel at them in the turn lane

Don't go taller than 9.2 and you will be fine with the stock cylinder. I agree about the 1.5, it will take off of the top speed which you are stretching to the limit. A pipe would help the top speed. I am not sure if the combo of stock cylinder and stock pipe will produce a true 50mph but it will get 50ish. A top end pipe would get a true 50mph. With a variator alone I should be able to hit 40. I am not at roughly 37-38 completely stock. If I tune the variator for a quicker start, couldn't I even it out with the taller gears? Clutch spring will help with take off a bit as well. Once it gets going, I don't think it would be that big of a deal due to forward momentum. I just want the 50 for a little cushion. All road where I am are no more than 45 unless on hwy or way out of town. I really don't want to have to port anything. That's where I will most definitely screw it up. Looking for bolt ons now. I will eventually up my displacement but it won't be till later on this summer at the earliest. You can do nasty on the variated af05 for $350-400. Bottom end, quality bore, vari, mod the stock intake, unrestricted pipe, met wheel. I wouldn't worry about the cdi. They don't really do much for you.

FYI the stock CDI is not REV limited and just move your pulse generator to get the 4┬░ for free. OH and the aftermarket box is gonna leave you stranded somewhere. They die a lot.

The high dollar ones do but then you are looking at a grand for the build. If you want a $500 build, I would step up to the af16. Gears are cheaper and you will get more displacement for your dollar. The initial cost is higher for the bottom end so that is why you have to decide at the beginning how much you want to build it.Carnie wrote:I wouldn't worry about the cdi.
