Bad/wrong plug

Saw a new plug at the store for my Honda spree for a buck so I said why the * not?

However, it is an autolite plug as they didn't have a NGK plug. Anyone know the right number for these autolite plugs?

I ask this because ever since I put that new plug in the scoot has been running like a pile of soft poo! I have lost all acceleration, can't go up hills, and has trouble starting with this new plug. I am going to swap the old one back in to see if I can isolate the problem as being the new plug. I will get back to you guys soon, in the mean time let me hear your thoughts?

I can say that this plug runs much better at higher speeds and have noticed it will run the scoot around 2-3mph faster.

Don't listen to the guys at the auto parts store when they try to sell you a plug other than the right one. The autolite plug is wrong for these motors.that's why it runs like that.the cross reference from ngk to autolite for most of the 50cc honda 2 stroke scooters list that same autolite plug. Kind oof strange when almost every bike uses a different plug from the factory.

Oh don't you worry, I treat those guys behind the counter as if they are masked bandits!

Guess I will be going back and returning the plug then...anyone else have experience with using an autolite plug? I know the manual only lists the NGK plugs and some other named plug. Guess I should stick to the manual more often!

I've never used autolite in a scooter. I have used champion plugs and I didn't notice a difference from the ngk in a stock sb50p.

the autolite plug number is 4123. just a what was said before dont use it. i tried and my scoots ran like a turd. ngk br6hs is what your looking for. im not 100% sure but i think the other is bh6hsa.also ngk

I can't remember off the top of my head what the number I am looking for is for the NGK's (it's what ever the manual has listed for an 86 honda spree), but I believe Odin has it right with the autolite plug.

What part of washington are you at? There are a bunch of motorcycle shops that carry the plugs for our bikes.

Had NAPA order me the ngk BPR6HSA plug today, and put in the old plug so it doesn't run like a pile anymore (*:

Checking a cross reference, the "banditos" did get it right. The 4123 and 6hs NGK are the same.

Bosch is the only plug that doesnt run well in ANYTHING.

Japanese engines do seem to prefer NGK or Denso plugs. I rate both highly.

Yes the banditos got the cross reference right, but that still doesn't mean that it is the right plug. I ran this plug for about a week and my scooter ran like a pile of poo! It was very hard to start and lost a lot of low end power!

This is really starting to * me off because I went back to o-Reilly to return the plug (4123) and they said they can't refund my money because I used it...didn't make a scene yet but decided to "warrenty" it and order the correct NGK plug. So the bandito special ordered it but told me that specific plug might not be in the warehouse and they have to do an inventory check, so he suggested I order an equivalent plug that would only take 1 day to get there, but said NO I NEED THIS PLUG (BPR6HSA). I sure hope they have that plug ):

Nice to see someone have real evidence of what we tell people all the time- NGK, NGK!

Its only a $5 mistake, so if they cant produce the plug just get it somewhere else. Fives and sixes are common heat ranges for a number of different vehicles.

Dont fault your counter guy too badly. He DID give you the correct equivalent part even though you found out that brand doesnt work well. They are being good to you to credit you with a used plug, even though we both know its "defective." Most places wont do anything with electrical parts. Once you buy it its your problem.
