Build Suggestions for a 86 Aero 50?
Howdy,
I want to build my Aero 50 into a 45MPH bike, Challenge is I weigh about 300lbs
Through reading the site here I've come to believe that some of the later bikes parts are able to be bolted onto my Aero but I'm not 100% sure which parts.
Currently I'm looking at the 65cc Airsal kit Daywot is selling on Ebay + a Kelli variatior upgrade both for the Aero 50 as my first purchases.
Are Gears swapable between the Dio and the late Aero 50? Looking at: http://www.ebay.com/itm/FINAL-DRIVE-GEA ... 076wt_1064

Those gears will not work for your transmission. You would need to buy an af16 gear set and then swap in those aftermarket gears. You could get the OEM setup from Honda for less and you would have 10.2 gears with Honda engineering. I would look at a solid used kit to learn on like this one: viewtopic.php?f=2&t=21977

with just a few cheep mods i was able to hit 45 mph all day long.
1) ruckus variator: best thing you can do to a stock Aero, got me to 45 with just this mod.
2) upjet the main to an #85: this will richen up the air to fuel ratio and help mantain 47.
i then did met wheels so i could add some width to the tires that dropped me down to 45 (added waight do to more rubber)
I am 6'2" and 235 lbs so not a small guy. but im not 300 so its hard to say.
Going BB will add some more cost becouse you will need to upgrade intake and the pipe.

2) upjet the main to an #85: this will richen up the air to fuel ratio and help mantain 47.

Do these mods;

and add a windshield. Then your weight will probably not matter, whereas your wind resistance will be less with the windshield.

I see Pipes for sale in that thread, No kits?
Found the thread on how to swap the AF16 Gearset into the AF05E, I'll keep an Eye out for AF16's to tear apart.

Sorry. I should have read the thread first. He must have already sold the kit. It was $100 with low miles so that is no surprise.

Were these GPS speeds? Not true, you don't need to change these. Bores can be run with everything on the intake side stock as well as stock muffler. You do need to adjust your jetting, and be aware of the fact that the stock carb does not have adjustable pilot jets. Upgrading the peripheries helps the bore reach higher RPMs (and can give you adjustable pilot), but is not strictly required. the speeds recorded are from GPS
I dont see why you would do a BB and not the pipe and intake/carb.
as you say it will not reach higher rpms without the added parts.
so a BB will just get you to 35mph faster. thats not his goal.

A bbk will provide more torque. He can change the weights to reach higher on the variator, giving a higher top speed for the same rpm.(assuming the stock engine can't max out the vari with that weight, true in my experience)
