Looking to get a uni filter

Post by memberzs »

I'm looking to replace the air box with a uni pod filter, i have a stock carb on a se50 but its jetted to #88 main jet. I am replacing the exhaust with a derestricted exhaust in the coming weeks. what size is the proper size i should get, also will i need to up jet again once i get it and the exhaust installed?

Greetings:

Google UNI Website. The bellmouth diameter fits the 1" angled filter.
Watch for shock and/or bodywork clearance issues. 88 should be close, but check temps/plug color.

if your going to use the stock carb, stick with the airbox setup even though you plan on upgrading the exhaust to a aftermarket one. going with a pod filter you risk seizing the cylinder on off throttle from wot or highspeed run. the fixed pilot jet is very small.

So moving to a pod filter, at least right now would not be ideal. as a carb is out of my price range right now. Are there any intake upgrades that would suit my situation for now?

if your looking for a performance upgrade, your best bet is mill the head down .030 to increase the compression. a all stock cylinder, carb, intake manifold and exhaust, milled head with 10to1 gears,90/90-10 tire and a high speed pulley, you can get that motor to do 55mph. thats the ns on the bottom of the speedo.50mph easy

sweet, i work in a machine shop so milling the head would be easy to have done, im still in search of 10:1 gears. on my 35 mhp speedo i can cruise between the screw and mph. below the last bar after 35. so around 40 i think. my rear tire is 3.5x10 kenda k329, the 90/90-10 of the same style have a 1/2" smaller od.

That sounds about right for the stock variator and 11to1 gears. Get a keli variator and it will give you another 3-5mph. You should be able to do 45mph with the 11to1 gears. If you haven't changed the belt, get a new belt when you install the new pulley.

The belt was recently replaced by the previous owner. and i got a new pully from vt cycles. Right now im looking for a gasket set so i can shave the head in a few weeks after i get the new exhaust installed.
Gears are being a pain to find.
