Need help..no spark?

So I picked up a basket case Aero for $100... Right out of the gate I have no spark. I changed the plug cause it was easy and cheap, but no luck. I'm not great with electrics, so would it be the coil itself or the rectifier, or niether, and how can I tell? Any basic ideas? Thanks!

First make sure the key is on and the stop/run switch is in the run position.

The service manual has a good trouble shooting procedure for the ignition system.
