Never assume the plug is pre gapped to spec. What if the box got dropped. It could change the gap.always check it before install. There are other motors that use these plugs that have different gap specs.
The plugs come with a cardboard piece around the end of the plug to prevent this from happening though I cannot argue with the plug being gapped differently for a different motor.

That still doesn't mean the the plug will be gapped to spec. I have had several plugs brand new out the box that was gapped to small under the minimum spec. Cardboard peice was still there. These things are mass produced, you can't expect every single plug to be within gap spec for your aplication all the time. That's why I say never assume the plug to be pregapped. Same goes for a new plug to always work. A new plug can go bad at anytime even though you just put it in. Never assume

not even a sputter.
i had the fly wheel off but it's back on now.
bakaracer wrote:So then that's sounds like your having a spark issue. Either timing is off or the spark is weak. Check connections to the coil and clean the terminal. Check tthe coil wire to plug cap. Unscrew the cap and check to see if the wire is burnt. If it is then cutoff the burnt end and * the cap back on. Also check the green gound wire from the stator that bolts where the starter is. Make sure the bolt is tight or if the wire is not cut. Check the fuse where the battery is at too. Just try to eliminate stuff that might cause it not to have spark. Make sure the spark is strong at every arc. If its strong then soft then strong or just stays soft on the spark then that's why its not starting.

i will check these things directly.

i took everything back off then put it back on again. she started for like 3 sec. then nothing. and wouldn't start again after that.
Baka i'm getting strong spark. i checked the coil and cleaned it up just to be on the safe side.

on a side not my start was bad so i put another one on and she was turning over but i burned that up too.

what you need to do is get another compression tester and see what its at. also do a pressure test on the case. you can use a boat water plug to cap off the exhaust and find something to cap off the intake. use a bike pump and use a hose to connect to one of the nipples on the manifold pressure to 6psi and let sit. if you have a leak in the case, that will tell you. dont pump it over 7psi. if you can eliminate that the case can hold air pressure then you can next check the fuel delivery and the spark timing issue.

ok i can do the pressure test now... give me about 45 min and ill let you know how it goes.
o yeah, how long should i let it sit afterwards.

if you have a leak you will know as you will either hear it or it wont hold air.
