Hi every one. My names Ayden & I own this beast. A 1997 Honda PAL with the AF05E engine.
Currently it is standard mechanicals with a Day Glow paint job.
Can anyone tell me what equivelant model of this would be in the U.S.A. I'm trying to get a resonably priced Big Bore Kit for it. Any suggestions? Would and AF05E Big Bore Kit do?

My guess is that you would have to get a BBK from forum member Tazland001. He is the only one in the world with the BBK for that body in the USA (elite e and elite es). The pal engine does have some different transmission parts than the USA model so I can't confirm if the BBK would work.

Yours belong to the Honda SB50/ SB50P like mine.
There is no US model equivalent Honda Elite E (SB50P) and Honda Elite ES (SB50) were both single speed transmissions (no variator).
The closest to your model would be the Canada Honda Pal (SB50) that had the variator.
Canada also had a Honda Pal (SB50P) restricted, single speed transmission.

Does the variated pal just have an extended nq50 crankshaft or does it use the actual variated af05 (se50 type)?
That's a great question! I was wondering the same thing too. I know that the variated Pals had an extended crankshaft but I haven't really come across one yet. =(
First off the honda pal(AF17) was not made in 98. It was made around 87-90 and thats a guess but close. I actually own a pal myself
Now the crankshaft and the clutch drive gear is longer. That is why the kick starter case is much wider than the elite e and other pal models. The crankshaft will fit in the spree motor but the clutch drive gear will not match up on the spree engine. The tip of the clutch drive gear is 2mm to small to seat. It could be made to work. Also I am pretty sure the AF05 variators would work in variated pal. The pal variator(stock) only has 3 rollers in it. I actually just got one of these engines from Japan a couple months ago. I will post the pics when I do the build. My main goal is to try to cross over the parts to my spree engine and see what gains I get.

No not really. After reading and talking with tazland and another chap on this forum I have one Big Bore Kit, 21mm Carb Kit, Jet Tunning Kit & High Speed Pulley Kit on the way from various parts of the world.
Does anybody know of any after market bolt on exhaust pipe that will fit this model. My current one leaves alot to be desired!
