Hmm, can you see additional base gaskets? Stroker maybe or stuffer?

It looks like there is only one, but it is hard to tell with all the black RTV.

The base gasket is defiantly thicker than the thin metal one that comes with a polini kit

I also see a metal head gasket That is strange for a polini kit.

Maybe this scooter does have a ministroker crank.

Wanted to say that after meeting trafficjamz this morning, I couldn't have felt better about the guy I was leaving my scooter with - definitely worth the 5 hour trip! I'm into motorcycles the way he's into scooters ("How many do you own?" asks the wife...the correct answer is to only count the ones that run and are registered that you THINK she knows about!)

Anyway, I love the running pictures and dialogue regarding the scooter. Glad to hear that it isn't a POS! And sorry about needing the stock pipe - one of the down-sides to living in a conservative neighborhood...

Next, I will preform a compression test, and report back.

I cannot seem to locate my compression tester at the moment.

And I am having a * of a time removing the bowl off of the 24mm carb to check the jets

So in the meantime.......I took a 28mm oko off the shelf to test.

gear ratio seems to be 7.5:1

This little scooter should be a screamer

I will hook up a CHT and ride it next

I'll bring the GPS along since I'm sure the speedo does not function.

(The cable is in a box of parts that came with the scooter.)

I don't know how accurate this app is......but daaaammnn!!!

It felt fast 64mph in 547 feet seems a bit out there.

My garmin GPS's battery is dead right now.

I just realized that 547 feet is the elevation...not the distance traveled.


The garmin gave me a top speed of 54.2, but it was very windy during the second test, so I cut the test run short.



The WOT temps were around 360. Off throttle spikes were close to 400



I did finally find my compression tester. So tomorrow I will test, and make sure it is not too high.

I really think there might be a ministroke crank in this scooter.

So is this good, bad, or don't know yet?

I kind of feel like it's good but maybe too good?

Next question is if it would be bad, difficult, impossible or otherwise to put an oil tank back in? I'm not opposed to premix but it would just be easier if I didn't have to mess with it. If it's not possible (and that would be OK and maybe better?), what kind of premix ration should I use?

The 72cc polini kit is designed for the stock crank. (41mm)

It will work with a ministroke crank (44.4mm or 43.4mm) but it messes with the port timing in a bad way.

if the port timing is off, the scooter will make power at a different (lower) rpm.

Polini's like to rev high. It is how they acheive high top speeds.

A ministroker will make more power at lower RPMs but wont rev out in the same way.

Also if the ministroke is not setup correctly, the extra compression will translate into extra heat....and that is never good.

The stock oil pump delivers oil at a ratio of about 70:1. That is too low for a 72cc setup

For people that want to keep the stock pump, 1 oz of oil can be added to the tank to make the oil/gas ratio acceptable.

Between 50:1 and 32:1 is the overall ratio you want to shoot for.

So the jury is still kind of out on if this is a good mix of parts or not, right? There are some good parts but just not sure if they (will) work well together. The high speed seems to say that they will but I'm thinking the 400 degree temp peaks are not a good thing (as you said, too much heat is bad).

It depends on where you want your power. If you want the highest top speed, you already have the expensive parts. You could sell your crank and buy a stocker, having money to spare, or throw a little more at it for a stuffer.
