It would be better to purchase an 94 to 2001 Elite, much faster, and there are a lot of easy mods you can add. :peace:

Spree is hard to make much faster without serious and extensive mechanical procedures performed by adept and instinctive minds. In other words, start with an Elite and be way ahead in the 40 mph game without the all the hassle.... :werd:
If you have a spree now, ride it and be happy and go slow.

I second the suggestion to swap for a straight Elite or Dio. The Spree makes an excellent 25mph pit bike, and they're easy to sell, especially if in good condition, with a kick starter.

Dont listen to them. The af16 motor swap is easy and there are members on here with tons of parts for cheap. The spree has a lighter frame too. You could just put in a stock elite motor with a aftermarket variator and be done with it. 45 mph all day

You're answering without reading the original post. That's not very helpful to anyone. Just to help you out here, he said,"what would be the easiest engine swap for a Honda spree I am not very good with tools and do not want to weld a new frame etc."

Did you miss that, or were you just being thick?

If you're not very good with tools and don't want to weld,
I'd agree with previous suggestions to look for a later model Honda Elite S.

but to answer the question partially:
The easiest engine swap would be the Honda Elite S (or similiar) engine swap.
But there are parts that need to be bought to make it bolt on.
(I mention 'bought' because you said you didn't want to weld.)
Then there's the shock relocation. You could drill the frame and add in a bolt instead of welding.

Just do not chose the Honda Elite SB50s which basically has the same engine as the Spree
and has similar challenges to having it go faster.

The stock derestricted later model Honda Elite S will be as fast as you had mentioned.
Browse through your local Craigslist ads. You can also post 'Want To Buy (WTB) ads too
(i.e. WTB Honda Elite S). We also have a For Sale/ Wanted section here too.

Hi,
Post is getting stale, but wanted to ask those in the know if this true from this POST:
You can use a motor off of an 87 elite s, 86-87 aero 50, or 89-01 elite 50 and you should be doing at least 40. Make sure the engine is stamped either AFO5 or AF16 and has a 4 bolt intake...
And from this POST:
Aero 50, Canadian Dio and SA50 (Elite LX / SR)
The AF16E (94+ EliteÔÇÖs) <Dio> would be an ideal choice for sure but its a pretty hard engine to come by. And if you do they are pretty pricey.

thanks,
Td

P.s. I'm in the market for one that'll fit my '85 Spree and do <40mph.

There is NO ENGINE that will bolt on to your Spree that will make it faster. Everything that is going to make it faster will require YOU to fabricate an engine mount at least.

Engine mounts can be bought. The shock mount on your frame is the most fabrication.

Where do you buy a Spree to AF16 mount, or for that matter a Spree to an AF05 mount?

Here on the board. Members sell their mounts.
