1987 Honda Aero 50 Mixed Gas ?

Post by Big AL »

Having a issue with the oil pump leaking oil under the pump, no luck tightening lines, new clamps...It leaks running or off... Going to try and remove the pump to get a better look and check o-ring. If this fails can I run mixed gas?? Do I have to do anything special to the pump if I go this route?? Will mixed gas provide as good of protection ? Scooter runs real well so I hate to monkey anything up.. What is a safe ratio for high test gas ?? Carb is currently set at factory settings, will this need to be adjusted ?

The o-ring can not cause it to leak when not running (no pressure in the crankcase, no leak). I would suspect a bad hose or connection before think about a pump leaking.

Where EXACTLY is it leaking from?

Spray some brake or carb cleaner down there to clean up the mess, and get in there with a flashlight and inspection mirror.

If its leaking when its off, its probably either the hose or the fitting on the gravity feed line from the oil tank.
