1987 Aero 50 almost done !!

Post by Big AL »

Getting very close to saying that I am finished wrenching and the scooter is running better for the most part.... Opted for the 90/90-10 tire up front loads of room and handles so much better.... Still running a 300-10 on the back... I'll have GPS it to check my speedo for being correct... Couple small issues...I've jetted to 88 on the carb when I cleaned it as previous owner had bored out to 65cc...Changed to roller weights...I would not of changed if I had opened up the assembly 1st... As they were not original but just barely scuffed...however it was just filled with crap.. grease, dirt.. I still changed weights with stock ones (White) from Honda and put them in dry... Drivability changed quite a bit, slower pick up but close to same top speed.. Old weights are ( Black) heavier but have no markings for actual weight... They seemed to provide snappier pick-up.. Is there value in mixing weights??? or should I put old ones back in ?? Drive belt has not been changed but I should as it is close to minimum width (14)... Should I go stock belt ( $ 47) aftermarket ( $ 53) Canadian shops do not offer many options for that... Might try to lean out carb a little more as there seems to be more throttle but not much more speed or is that the thin drive belt doing that ?? I know I'm close very close as it purrs like a cat idling and starts by just rubbing the starter button......Any suggestions are welcome !!
