Fuel Flow Problem (in carb)

Post by Farfignugin »

The Problem: Fuel flows at idle; no vacume at high rev; petcock, filter, strainer, vacume line all fine.

Possible causes: something wrong with float? (if so what?)

Btw, this is an update to the "Interesting problem with trottle" topic.

Any help again would be much appreciated.

Thanks in advance.

Possible small obstruction in gas line? Try putting a new line on.

gas flow is fine, but when I checked the vacuume when the scooter is running, its ok at idle, but when I throttle up there is no vacuume. What could cause this?

maybe a vacuum leak somwhere in the carb.... maybe when you're throttling up, the vacuum becomes greater, draws more gas and the leak gets worse and voila no vacuum. check to see and make sure that you have a rubber gasket attatched to the upper part of carb on the seam that seals off both halves.

Are you sure your vaccuum line does not have a small hole or split in it?

Update: replaced all lines (fuel, oil, vaccume); Problem remains, not something to do with vaccume, but rather the float (might be sticking) cause fuel flows fine with vaccume, but doesnt flow when running.

Anyone know a reliable online place to buy a carb rebuild kit?

If the gaskets are fine, how's compression?

Also wondering if your petcock is getting old and sticky, so that it doesn't open on throttle. Vacuum should dip, but not disappear, on throttle.
