Wide Open Throttle?

Post by Skipper20 »

How long can you do WOT on a 50cc 2T engine before causing engine damage? My '87 SE50 with Keli performance variator can now do 42.5 mph GPS indicated but I need to hold that speed on a nearby 40 mph speed limit 4 lane divided highway just to keep up with traffic. Fortunately, the road has an HOV lane either side which I occasionally duck into to keep the main stream of traffic from piling up behind me. But, I'm still going close to WOT. TIA,

All day or until the gas tank goes dry (the dry tank thing is a bad idea as it leans the engine out).

They are designed for this type of use.

Thanks! I'll definitely remember to top the tank off.

Greetings:

Although Flash's temp gauge stays resolutely planted at 300 whenever I go WOT, even for 90 seconds at a time, I share Skipper's puckered feeling of apprehension whenever I do it. With Mighty Polini Corsa hammering that stock crank, I know some day something has to let go... But it sure is fun while it lasts!
