Any play with 4 wheelers?
My bro was hauling some old 4 wheelers to the scrapday, a kawasaki 220 and an older honda 250ex. Well I noticed there was an aftermarket Supertrapp exhaust on the 250ex so I pulled that off instead of letting it go to waste. Anyone know if this will work on my 250 recon and whether I need to upjet or not? Never really changed to an aftermarket muffler on a 4 wheeler

Re: Any play with 4 wheelers?
I've done quads for years, but I am into the 4X4 kind for trail riding or no trail riding and we hunt with them. The go fast stuff does nothing for me. I like to ride when i want to, not fix the d*** thing after every ride or wait for me to heal.
As to the Super Traps, if the CCs are the same it should work if both are 4 strokes.
My old 250 which the wife now rides.

My 400.

Re: Any play with 4 wheelers?
yea I am not looking to go fast the recon 250 is a utlity atv that i used to pull stuff and hit dirt trails and haul yard tools to do local landscaping jobs. I just thought it would be kewl to have an aftermarket exhaust on there
the recon and the 250ex displacement is the same both 4 stroke, the 250 ex has a manual clutch motor as opposed to the newer semi auto motor on the recon with the push rods intead of cam in the 250ex. May try it just to see how it sounds etc I just didnt know if i had to upjet I wouldnt think so since the exhaust is just to get rid of the fumes and silence the noise. From what little research i have done on the exhaust it has good low and midrange on the 250ex motor. It says on the trapp that it is a spark arrestor if that means anything

Re: Any play with 4 wheelers?
The major problem with most aftermarket exhausts is that they are LOUD and can even cost you performance. Loud does not always mean more power. Most places have noise limits on ATVs and if you have them (here the state has mandated numbers that a stock rig will meet but aftermarket, never), stay away from the Super Traps unless it has the silencer on it and even then?

it has a solid CNC cap on the end with discs stacked up under it to let the exhaust gases out

Re: Any play with 4 wheelers?
On mine, the number of discs could be changed. Spark arrestor is required for some (maybe all now) public parks. Basically just some steel mesh the gasses flow through instead of just a straight pipe. Anti forest fire measure.
Just because it is a 4t doesn't mean you don't change the jetting. I have no experience with the recon so I can't tell you. On my warrior and 450r, I upjeted. The Big Bear didn't seem to show a difference in performance from upjetting (different cam and head from warrior but both are 350 4t).
