84 aero 50 help

hi, im new to the forum. i was just asking if anyone knew any mods for 84 aero 50s. mine goes 37-38 ┬▒ 2. i just wanted to know how to get those extra couple mph's. like 40-41.

MachiniMachini the head for high compression should help. Porting will achieve higher RPMs that translate to more speed (assuming the belt drive is maxed)

The '83 & '84 Aero 50 are a bit of an orphan. They have a 12mm carb instead of the 14 mm carb on all the other 50 cc scooters and the cylinder and block, bore and stroke combo are also orphans. The list goes on. Cutting the head .020" to .030" is one option. Changing the carb is a possibility or swapping to a newer motor is another. Going to a 2.75X10 rear tire is another. New belt and degreasing the variator will also help.

84 Aero af05e Ruckus variator, rear metro wheel, Leovince pipe ( work in process... porting , nh80 reeds intake carb)

thanks Bear, i got the 2.75x10 tire a couple days ago after i got a flat. works nice but no speed gain. i will try to degreasing the variator. would you recommend a kevlar belt? or is it just a waist of money. so you would just take some basic grease remover to the vari? just to double check, this is the vari...

That is the ramp plate. It goes on the back of the variator. The variator has the channels that the rollers roll in.

That'd be the variator casting, or "Drive Face" in Honda-speak. A spectacularly clean and unworn one, too. The '84 transmission is a bit of an Odd Duck, to the majority of us who own AF05 and later engines. I'm not certain if/how you can adapt the performance variators designed for the later engines into yours, but it's worth exploring.

Last I read, a custom boss was needed.

Not for a stock motor. It is harder on your engine and you don't need the additional strength.
