Need help tuning oko 24mm carb
Just installed my taz pwk kit with ct manifold and 24mm oko. Currently running with a 95 jet. I have a stock exhaust. What size jet would you recommend for this setup?
Is adjusting the air/fuel screw the same as the stock with in being rich and out being lean? What is the optimal setting?
Never messed with an oko before only the stock.keihin

Greetings:
Idle Mixture screw function is the same; In for Rich.
Now you have a new variable: the low speed jet. It'd be good to know what it is.
Tune idle mixture for max RPM. If you need less than 1.25 turns out, increase the Pilot a size. If youneed more than 2 turns out, go down a size.
Not many have experience using a 24 with stock pipe. 95 may be pretty close.
Watch WOT temps if you have a gauge. 350 and climbing? Go up a size. Colder than 300 and gutless or 4-stroking? Go down.
Plug color can inform too.

How is it running? Is it spongy up top?

Re: Need help tuning oko 24mm carb
Its running alright with the 105, doesn't want to get past 30 mph though. I think it could have something to do with my 30 year old drive belt.
It does feel spongy up top. I may need to adjust the needle. It will stall if I give it full throttle off the line and seems to max out around half throttle at ~30mph, twisting it all the way doesn't seem to make much difference. I'm also not sure I have quite the right carb jetting.
I'm running the low speed jet that came in it, I'm not even sure where it is to replace it. I tried the smaller main jets I had but it was getting too much air and only wanted to run with the choke on. I'm currently running the 105 main with the air/fuel screw out 2 turns and the idle screw out only half a turn. If I bring the idle out any further it wants to stall.

have you done a plog chop sounds like its lean to me. needle pisition doesnt have much effect on WOT that would be your main.

Re: Need help tuning oko 24mm carb
Greetings:
The Idle screw is just a throttle stop. If it's almost all the way in, your Pilot circuit isn't even functioning, and you're trying to tune the "Idle" mixture with the main jet and needle. This won't likely result in a rideable scooter. If you "don't know where the Pilot jet is...", I recommend you do some reading and find it. I suspect you'll find it's plugged up or there's been some sort of assembly issue. (This assumes the rest of the engine is viable and there's no occult vacuum leak or other problem.) Don't even bother mucking with the Main circuit until you sort this Idle/Pilot issue out.

Re: Need help tuning oko 24mm carb
Ok I took your advice and did some research. I checked for leaks but did not find any.
Got the pilot jet out and it is a 45. I'm thinking this is probably too small. Through my research I found the following: "Starting point for the oko 24 is 48 pilot 120 main with the power jet hose disconnected. Air fuel screw at 2 turns out needle clip either middle or 1 up from middle"
I guess I will be ordering some jets. Does this seem correct to you guys?

Maybe the expectations are too high.
It goes 30 mph......how fast did you expect it to go?
