Greetings:
Polini belts are as good as Bando products, perhaps a bit better. $30 is a good price. Do me a favor and measure with a tape around the belt. Post results compared to stock circumference.

This is from failing Wheel-memory, but I seem to recall the '83-84 belts being a lot narrower than the 15.5mm '85-later items. I'm almost certain they're nowhere even close to fitting.

Re: Is Polini a good belt? stock NB50
OK, just got new Polini belt. it measures:
65mm outer curcumference
15mm wide
i do know that my existing belt on my NB50 is at the service minimum width of 14mm
hopefully this new belt will help some.

Greetings:
Quoth the Former Prime Minister:
Nominal length of stock belts is 641, but I've never measured any belt that wasn't 8-12mm longer than this inscrutable Oriental way of representing the effective belt length at some arbitrary center point. Compare Polini's circumference to your stocker. The P may be just a bit longer too.
As for width, it should help the top speed a bit, but I'm confused. I don't recall my own Polini S belts being less than the stock width, which should be 15.5. Are you measuring with a caliper or "Purt' Near"? Either your number's off, the belt is worn, or Polini has a different use in mind for this one with a Polini vario and different pulley boss.
Try it out anyway and let us know?

Re: Is Polini a good belt? stock NB50
OK, update. i put on the new Polini belt and removed the cover and grease from the vari............according to our altima speedo, it runs between 43 and 45 mph. huge improvement over stock.

The '83-'84 belt is different but it is available from Honda still.
BELT, DRIVE 23100-GJ8-000 (replaces 23100-GE8-004) $26.45
FYI the '85 belt is different from the '86-'87
'85 = BELT, DRIVE 23100-GN2-003 $38.42
'86-'87 = BELT, DRIVE 23100-GG2-751 (replaces 23100-GR1-003) $37.13

Re: Is Polini a good belt? stock NB50
Ok, so would you guys be satisfied with the performance of this Aero ?
Re: Is Polini a good belt? stock NB50
Yes, but remember Honda speedometers are known for their optimistic readings, 43 indicated on my Aero 80 is actually 40.3 mph. A GPS is the only correct way to check you speed.trudeau1111 wrote:Ok, so would you guys be satisfied with the performance of this Aero ?

Greetings:
Bone-stock '87 NB50 Aero Flash.0 struggled up to 38mph Indicated when first resurrected. 43-45 on the speedo is a very healthy AF05! Speedometer "optimistism" error is by no means unique to Honda scooters. ALL manufacturers with the possible exception of Harley-Davidson (!) build in anywhere from 5% to 12% (Twelve Percent!!) error for reasons about which we can only speculate.

Re: Is Polini a good belt? stock NB50
OK, good info. according to our Altima, i'm averaging about 43mph. but i shall check with a GPS. i'm pretty happy with the results though. thanks to a lot of help from this forum.
bought this thing for $160 with carb/airbox missing, and a few other problems. got it all tuned up and serviced now, and painted. got about $400 into it total.....including a manual.

Even most cars have a 2% OPTIMISTIC speedometer, or so says Garmin-Girl whenever I run it in the Family Truckster or most rental cars I've driven.
