question about a straight pipe
hello, i am asking a question about using a straight pipe. i read a long description of the main workings of a straight pipe but still dont quite get the grip on it. so what im asking is im putting a tecumseh 3hp 2cycle engine on a 69 fox street scamp and it came with what appears to be a home made straight pipe, now while reading about how the straight pipe works they referred to the length having something to do with how well it works, so what i need to know is how long should i make the pipe and should i angle the tip at the end? please any help would be appreciated now the straight pipe is about 16 inches long and i just think it may be too long, does anybody know about these motors at all

We do scooters, not lawn mower motor.
By straight pipe, do you mean just a pipe with out an expansion chamber or some sort of tuning, then that is going to be as bad as no pipe at all.
