Top speed NE50 (Aero in USA)

Post by Rogerio »

My recently repaired NE50 (BBK 46mm, bigger jet from Malossi) is cruising at 58Kmh and reaching 70Kmh downhill.
Is this a good performance for my configuration?
How much can I gain with a tuned exhaust?
Apreciate your comments. :coolcruise:
Kind regards.

Greetings:

It sounds a bit slow, actually. Even without gears and a pipe, I'd expect a BBK on an AF05 engine to push past 70KPH.
All else staying the same, a Pipe will raise your top speed by the same percentage it raises RPM. 8k to 9k = 12.5 percent. 60KPH x 12 percent = 65 KPH. Malossi 67-6458 gears over thar in You-Rope might still be found for a Very Tall gearing putting 100 KPH into theoretical possibility. They do KILL your take-off though..

Most of my money is spent on scooterparts. The rest is just wasted.

Hi Wheelman,
Thanks for yr. excelent advices. I'll try a new exhaust, I do not want to get rid of my very good "take-off".
Kind regards

I recommend a tach when going with a bigger carb and tuned exhaust. That combo really releases the RPMs on a 2-stroke and when you start driving WOT at 11,000+RPM, you can dramatically shorten the life of your engine. High RPM ops also requires more oil to the engine than stock to prevent grenading your engine.

I agree a Tach is a necessary instrument when increasing RPM. More oil: In my case I've an oil pump linked to the crankshaft, I thought that higher RPM will also increase the oil quantity
