biggest carb for a spree?
whats the biggest carb anyones put on a spree? Im having a friend of mine machine me an adaptor to bolt on spigot mount carbs, looking at a 19mm from a yamaha jog 50. My spree has porting, milled head, pipe, belt, bigger tire, and eventually gears. The reed cage and intake is just huge for the tiny carb on it.
Re: biggest carb for a spree?
i run the 19 worked good for what little i got to ride it... people have huge carbs on 24 + but there is no reason to other then to waste more gas.bradbutlernc wrote:whats the biggest carb anyones put on a spree? Several Forumistas have managed to cobble up a way to adapt a CT Spigot-type manifold to their Sprees. Here's a link to get you started.

Re: biggest carb for a spree?
Im actually getting a spigot mount adaptor for the stock intake, ill just port the intake to open it up. The stock reeds are plenty for up to 20mm carburetion. I ordered a TK 19mm carb (used on 1E40QMB) 50cc. Should work pretty good with the pipe, porting, head work, and other mods ive done. Shes gonna be flying pretty soon. Picked up another scooter today, swapping on a 76cc 6.1hp solo chainsaw engine to that one.
Re: biggest carb for a spree?
see your going to have a problem.... The stock reeds are your real restriction (they are tiny). You need bigger reeds to get more performance thats why people buy the ct intakes with adapter from tazland..... Im running the setup bear has in this thread http://www.hondaspree.net/phpBB3/viewto ... =1&t=21106bradbutlernc wrote:Im actually getting a spigot mount adaptor for the stock intake, ill just port the intake to open it up. Re: biggest carb for a spree?
According to a mechanic i trust everything with the flow is good enough to 18-20mm. My good friend Neil pritchard has been building 2 strokes for 60 years and i take anything he says as fact, period. He builds 250r engines for a living and does work for people all over the country. He did a little work to a yamaha blaster i had and it would outrun modded banshees, lol. To me the restriction is in the manifold

Re: biggest carb for a spree?
the intake windows on the block are tiny they need opening up and some bigger reeds. Then you need to sort the exhaust port cause thats tiny and it needs a good expanshion chamber to get it moveing

you do realise that this engine is a waste of money you will be dissapointed in any performance gains for the work or money you put into it

Disappointment is up to the tuner. It makes me happy to wring my AF16 up to its breaking point for a measly 70 miles per hour. For a lot less money, I could go faster with a 2004 EX250, but that isn't the point. The same twisted "logic" applies to someone wanting to make his Spree be all that it can be. Posts to discourage this aberrant behavior are pointless and annoying. You go, Brad. Let us know the results? Pics are good....that this engine is a waste of money you will be dissapointed in any performance gains for the work or money you put into it

Re: biggest carb for a spree?
Im just hopping it up a little bit. The cylinder is getting a midrange/bottom end power type port job, milling head, etc. ive been doing alot of swapping and not tying alot of money up in the project. I have 6$ in the spree itself which ran great. I have 20 bucks tied up in the pipe, 40 in the carb, and another 10 in my led taillights and turn signals. Also milling the primary drive face and advancing the timing 4 degrees at the crank.
When all is done ill have a scooter than runs 50+ with 100-150 bucks tied up in it, that gets decent mileage. Thats all i want, really. If i wanna go fast i have an old car with over 600 ft lb of tq at the crank that runs 11s in the 1/4.
I plan on taking my stock parts and reselling them to offset the cost. Ive got a realllllly nice stock carb for sale
Heres the pipe i fabbed, may redo it though to bring it higher.

Re: biggest carb for a spree?
Greetings:
Ported for high-RPM, high compression, lots of space for mixture in and a high-rev pipe going out - I dunno, maybe it will have the nuts to get to 50. That would require 66% higher-than-stock RPM on stock drive train. A little less with a fatter rear tire and taller gears and pulley mod.
