Hello I was wondering what set of gears would benefit me and how? Looking for good take off and would like to at least keep my top speed I'm reaching 45.
86 aero 50 af05
Ruckus variator
6.3 g rollers
Malossi wild lion pipe
Running pre mix
90/90 rear tire
I plan on doing 1k clutch springs and contra, and either a malossi or polini bbk just haven't decided for sure yet.
Sets or gears for both set ups would be appreciated thanks in advance.

Cool thanks. How much do gears run usually if you know? And is used my only option or can I get aftermarket sets?

Re: Aero gears
Greetings:
Alas, pickin's are slim for your venerable Aero AF05. They will be soon for the later angines too, so don't feel too bad.
Malossi once made the 2:1 primaries for a Whopping-tall 7.83:1 ratio. Good take-off isn't on the menu, even with hearty big-blocks, but 60 MPH potential is. In the Caucasus Mountains, goatherds sing of the legend of one remaining dusty set on a back shelf of a scooter store in Minsk. That option alone remains among the New Parts. Search 67-6458 and see if the goatherds missed one. Expect to pay $100.
Total conversion to AF16 - spec opens up the AF16 aftermarket to your older engine. 8.44 would be my choice too. You need the 16 cover, countershaft and axle, and maybe some shim and/or machine work to fit. 10:1s from an '87 SE50 are about as hard to find as Malossis.

Most of my money is spent on scooterparts. The rest is just wasted.

Re: Aero gears
The 7.83:1 Malossi gears are still available for $90 shipped. The Polini 7.83:1 gears are the hard to find but exist on some dusty shelf for over $100.
Prices fluctuate for the used AF05 10.2:1 gears.

Thanks a lot guys I think I'll look around for some 10:1s for a bit I guess or look into the af16 conversion. I saw redeft had the malossis but I think those are just to tall for me I do mainly stop and go city riding.
